If you didn’t know, last week was my birthday week. Guess how old I am? It was a wonderful week filled with all kinds of love, friends, amazing food, dancing, and community. It was a busy week! Here’s a recap with photos 🙂
Monday started with my first attempt at making Kale Chips in my crappy plastic dehydrator that you can’t set the temperature. They didn’t turn out quite like the ones you can get in the store but they were tasty nonetheless. Tuesday began with my best friend from high school that moved here recently (yay!). She took me to SunPower Natural Cafe, one of my favorite restaurants in town! Then we went to Nice Cream, now called Kind Kreme, which is a new all raw ice cream place that finally opened after tempting me for about 9 months with their storefront. It’s was good but very expensive. Their soft-serve is the bomb, and I will be back for that! My friend Kitten stopped in to join us, which was awesome because I haven’t seen her in forever since she is traveling with a band these days.
Wednesday I gave a uncooking demo at Whole Foods, which was awesome and I met many new faces. I made my famous Heavenly Raw Chocolate Mousse, and Cheezy Kale Salad, then Ani let me demo a soup from her new book Ani’s Raw Food Essentials. An awesome book if you want to learn the basics of raw “cooking”. My friend Justin assistant me during the demo and was so much help, shout out to Justin! I usually give one free demo a month at the Whole Foods around town, so if you live in Los Angeles stop by and see me sometime! You can always find out about my events and class on the Events and Classes tab at the top of the page.
Thursday was the big day! We went to this beautiful and peaceful Buddhist Temple for lunch. They have a vegan buffet for $7, can’t beat that! When we pulled up there was a rainbow in the middle of the sky between two of the buildings. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen! Jessica gave me the most beautiful flowers and it was nice to have my closest friends with me at such a beautiful place on my special day. Thanks to Erin, Vanessa, Alex, Daniel, Lucy, Susanne, Adam, & Jess for making it out on a work day! The fun really began that evening. We went to Lindy Groove in Pasadena, who just so happened to be having their 9 Year Anniversary on my birthday. They had a live band with 2 amazing singers. A few friends joined me for the Lindy lesson before the party started. I was amazed by all the people who could really dance, even old people were shaking their stuff. It was so impressive I want to take lessons!
The fun continued throughout the weekend. I volunteered for Warren Kramer’s cooking class Saturday morning, then went Bridesmaid dress shopping with the gals. Sunday was Worldfest, the most awesome vegan festival and event of the year. The weather was perfect and I met so many new people at my booth, which I shared with Eric from Seed. He brought cookies so our booth was really popular 🙂 I was so busy at my booth I didn’t really get to see much or take any photos, but it was good times! I can’t wait till next year’s Worldfest!
Thank you to everyone who shared my special week with me. I love you all!
