I’ve been seeing these posts around lately and it’s time for me to get personal. I’ve learned (and relearned!) some things over the past few weeks: people always change, accidents happen, the world and myself are always ever-evolving, change is good, teaching brings me true joy, friends come and go, exercise makes me feel alive and sane, and I love my life and my friends/family.
Here are some things that bring true joy and bliss into my life (in no particular order). What brings you bliss?
Recently, I went to a wedding surrounded by my dearest friends. I went to a dear friend’s bday party after where my car was totaled while parked on the street. So many people came to my rescue, helping me catch the guy down the street and making sure I got home safely. It was a traumatic time, but showed me what amazing friends I have. My whole life I have always felt alone, and my father taught me I couldn’t never count on anyone, but I think he was wrong. I love my friends and would do anything for them.
2. A Warm Bed
Since I have no one to snuggle with at the moment, crawling into my warm bed with 3 blankets piled on top of me makes me so happy. Also, my Tempur-Pedic super nice expensive pillow makes my sleep so lovely.
All the worries in the world disappear when I’m teaching and I get in the flow. Helping and giving to others is my greatest joy in the world. Another reason why I have this blog is so I can share with others and build a community of friends all over the world.
4. Animal Love
I can’t have pets right now at my apartment, so every chance I get I visit and snuggle with my friends’ animals. If you have a companion animal I will gladly come and snuggle with it 🙂
5. Power Smoothies
Especially with warmer weather I have a big smoothie in the morning for breakfast. My smoothie consists of rice milk or coconut water, Vega powder, Vitamineral Greens powder, nut butter, frozen bananas (and other fruit depending on what’s in season), and sometimes raw cacao. Try it!
This kind of goes without saying. Not so much because I need it to live, but because it moves me, nourishes me, brings out love and compassion in my life, and is something I can share with others.
7. Random Acts of Kindness
LA can be a rough city! It’s amazing the hatred you see while you drive in this town. But all this negative stuff helps me see and appreciate all the beautiful, kind people in this town. It also helps me strive to be kind to others. From holding a door open, letting someone merge in your lane, smiling at a stranger, and the littlest act of kindness makes me happy.
In today’s dog eat dog world we are not taught to value community. There is no sense of tribe anymore. Back in the day a community or village supported each other, and you were never alone in anything. I’m so happy that I have found a sense of community here, first with my spiritual community, but also with the vegan community and now I’ve discovered the beautiful blogging community that exist online. I feel so connected to people I’ve never even met!
I am constantly in awe by the inspiration I receive from the world and my ability to spark inspiration in others. Being inspired or inspiring others on a daily basis is what really keeps me going.
Another thing that keeps me going is music! I don’t think I could ever live without it. There is an appropriate style of music for every occasion in your life. I have such a varied and wide collection of music and I’m so thankful to all the amazing artists out there that get to do what they love. Music holds memories longer than my brain can remember them. Have you noticed if you hear a song it can teleport you back to a certain memory that happened while that song was playing? That’s just cool, even though it brings me back to bad memories too.
