I finally made it over to Locali Conscious Convenience, an adorable little “convenient store” in Hollywood that carries all kinds of natural, organic products, treats, and refrigerated goods, but also boast a large vegan menu of delicious sandwiches and salads. I’ve heard so much about the Reuben here, so I decided to give it a whirl. So far my favorite is at Cafe Flourish. See video review here.
So my first thought is that this thing is SO massive. I almost feel like I can’t eat it all in one sitting because it’s enough fat and calories for my whole day. I’m thankful I went to the gym this morning. My second thought is that I’m not a big fan of fake meat slices, but on occasion their fine. The bread they chose is beautiful and extremely tasty. After biting in I started to realize why this has been pegged the best vegan Reuben in town. It’s stuffed with vegan meat slices, Daiya cheese, sauerkraut, and Russian-like dressing. I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting, and washed it down with the new Oogave Watermelon Creme. Yum! Now I’m going for round 2 to tackle this whole sandwich. Then I’m going to take a nap.
Though this thing was tasty as can be I still am a bigger fan of the tempeh style Reuben at Cafe Flourish and Flore Cafe. Personally, I prefer to eat tempeh over fake meat slices and for the same price you get a side dish at Flore. Definitely check out Locali if you are in the neighborhood or if you live nearby they deliver!
