Day 2. Sugar Cleanse. How are you doing? I feel pretty darn good. I had a pretty simple day 1; big smoothie for breakfast, made my raw chocolate mousse (sweetened with dates) topped with strawberries, Amy’s low sodium soup for lunch while I prepped my meals for the week, and this delicious plate for dinner (followed by a little more chocolate mousse!). I took off from the gym but plan to go today for some lifting and a spinning class.

My grocery list for next week looks something like this (I try to buy all organic but do what you can!):
quinoa, pinto beans, chickpeas, pumpkin seeds, pecans, cashews, raw cacao, cinnamon and my favorite spices
sweet potatoes, green beans, big bag of mixed greens, zucchini (for raw pasta!), tomatoes, beets, cucumbers, jicama, fresh corn, avocado, peppers, strawberries, bananas, pears, peaches, pineapple, cilantro, mint
Unsweetened non-dairy milk, tofu, tempeh, vinegars

August Cooking By Color – Red
As August comes to a close summer in Texas still burns on. My diet this summer has been high raw, maybe about 50% on most days. I’ve been crazy about fruit. We get beautiful berries at the beginning of summer and then stone fruits like peaches, plums, nectarines, pluots, apricots, and other hybrids start popping up later. When these two types of fruit come together in a fruit salad it’s pretty magical.

I always have cooked quinoa laying around. Well, not literally strewn about the house (I’m not an animal ;). I make it in big batches so I can easily throw it in salads, serve it up with some beans and greens, or transform it into it’s own dish. How’s it going blissies? I’m cat and dog-sitting this week and boy are they a handful! Two cats and two dogs. I couldn’t imagine having this many pets. They are super sweet and cuddly, but it’s hard work having animals.
