A Visit to the White City and the Desert

We continue our journey with Peru Hop to Arequipa or better known as the White City. It’s a beautiful place with many hidden courtyards and stunning architecture. We had to take one more overnight bus and arrived here at 5 am. I booked a shared room at Los Andes Bed & Breakfast. It’s not really a hostel and was lacking in communal spaces but it was so nice with comfortable single beds (no bunk beds!) at only $8 a night with a shared bathroom and simple breakfast.… Read more

A week along the Gringa Trail with Peru Hop

My travel blogs are going to be out of order because honestly I can only write when inspiration strikes and I had such a fun experience on Peru’s “gringo trail” I wanted to get it down before I forgot. I still owe you a blog about the amazing yoga retreat I led in the Sacred Valley of Peru, which I promise is coming soon. After the retreat I was trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my time in Peru.… Read more

Budapest is more awesome than you would think

My three month trip in Europe didn’t go as planned. I work part-time from my computer doing marketing and social media for a few companies and lost my main client mid-way through my trip. This had me stressing about money, so I took a few detours to do work exchange and housesitting to save. My goal was to visit only new countries but I had to go where I could get hooked up with accommodations. I did however get to visit a new country after Greece: beautiful Hungary.… Read more

First Impressions: Athens, Greece

I try not to have expectations when I visit a new city or country. I might have had some expectations when I came to Athens. A old friend was going to start a restaurant and buy property in Athens and got me excited that I might be able to buy an apartment too. I’m very interested in real estate investing and apartments are cheap right now in Athens. It would be easy to buy something and rent it out to tourists on Airbnb.… Read more

Travel log: Toronto takes the lead of favorite vegan city

I struggled for many weeks to find where I wanted to visit in May. My birthday was on the 13th and I ached to be amongst friends rather than be in a city all alone (per usual when you solo travel the world). Never having been to Canada, I decided Toronto would be perfect. I had friends there, many who I met years ago at conferences/vegfests and kept up online friendships with for years. Nicole (A Dash of Compassion) kindly let me crash with her and I didn’t have to spend my birthday alone.… Read more

Travel log: Lake Atitlan, Guatemala and it’s Traditions

The first week of March I took Spanish classes in San Pedro at Casa Rosario. I got to know the traditional Guatemala way of life through many conversations with my teacher and doing a homestay with a local family. It was so interesting, this exchange, where I learned about their religion, family, traditions, diet, work, income, common activities in San Pedro, and more. I couldn’t have been more different than them. Like the complete opposite. Lake Atitlan is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited.… Read more
