A Visit to the White City and the Desert

We continue our journey with Peru Hop to Arequipa or better known as the White City. It’s a beautiful place with many hidden courtyards and stunning architecture. We had to take one more overnight bus and arrived here at 5 am. I booked a shared room at Los Andes Bed & Breakfast. It’s not really a hostel and was lacking in communal spaces but it was so nice with comfortable single beds (no bunk beds!) at only $8 a night with a shared bathroom and simple breakfast.… Read more

Of Montreal: A recap of my 8 days in Quebec’s Metropolis

I know I’m a little behind on my blog. It seems that a blog once a month is all I can crank out while galavanting around the world. My apologies! We continue with my wonderful 8 days in Montreal in May. My research led me to believe that Montreal is a vegan-friendly city, but couldn’t be anything compared to my love affair with Toronto. Some gems were found, but overall it was the vibe and layout of the city I liked best.… Read more

First Impressions: Athens, Greece

I try not to have expectations when I visit a new city or country. I might have had some expectations when I came to Athens. A old friend was going to start a restaurant and buy property in Athens and got me excited that I might be able to buy an apartment too. I’m very interested in real estate investing and apartments are cheap right now in Athens. It would be easy to buy something and rent it out to tourists on Airbnb.… Read more

A sampling of my favorite food in Guatemala

My first stop in Guatemala was Antigua. This loud, busy, touristy city is only good for a stop-off of a couple of days at most. It does have cool historic buildings but it’s overpriced and a little too busy than what I was wanting at the time having just come from Mexico City. I found sanctuary at a small hostel called Sangha. They have vegan food, cheap yoga classes, clean dorm rooms, a large back patio away from the street, and nice staff.… Read more

Vegan Street Fair is a vegan daydream

When I saw my friends talking about Vegan Street Fair (VSF) on Facebook and Instagram I looked up flights to Los Angeles. I lived there for 5 years so many of my closest friends still reside there so I welcome a trip to visit them. I was shocked to see flights were under $150 round trip! My flight was bought and off I went a few days before the fair to catch up with friends. I had the most beautiful time in Ojai for a day and my friend showed me all the beauty there: hot springs, hiking amongst the orange groves above the city, eating at the Farmer and the Cook, and watching the sunset at Meditation Mount.… Read more

Mexico City is a vegan mecca!

As we vegans like to do, every time I travel to a new country I’m planning my days around where I will eat. I research and star all the vegan options I can find from the internet and HappyCow on Google Maps. Pro Tip: Did you know you can see all your starred places on Google Maps even when you don’t have internet? It’s the best! As soon as I arrived into the city I was ready to eat. I walked around to a few places I found on Google Maps that ended up not being closed.… Read more
