As the year comes to a close I take time to reflect on all that I’ve accomplished and take a moment to be grateful for everything in my life. That includes YOU!
Big thanks and gratitude to everyone that has ever come to a cooking class or a conference and said hello, left comments on my blog or other social media, and has allowed me to be a part of their healthy journey. Some of you have been there since the beginning and it’s been a fun roller-coaster ride!… Read more
I feel like I need to do a follow up post to my last blog because some people misunderstood what I was saying. The main point of the blog was to talk about size-shaming. It’s a huge problem across the board, but I’m speaking in the context of my own community (vegan/raw/plant-based). Anything outside of that I have no idea about because it’s totally off my radar.

When I first received the Mouthwatering Vegan cookbook I thought to myself, “this book is huge!!”. As I flipped through it’s pages I began to drool. With a photograph on almost every single page it was easy to tag all the recipes you want to make. Since it was 100 degrees in Texas my heart sank as most of the recipes I wanted to make were either baked or comfort food. I continued to drool and cursed the summer. My spirits perked back up when I came across the Cherry Tomato, Chickpea & Orange Pepper Salad.… Read more
Hello folks! This blog took a downturn when I started working out a lot and training for my first bikini competition. That is now behind me (!!) and you can read more about the experience over at my fitness blog if you are interested!
It’s time to start our Cooking By Color feature again. I’m excited to bring you new and improved recipes like this one today. We are going to do RED again because the summer months produce so many beautiful red fruits and veggies.… Read more
I had the pleasure of reviewing Amber Shea Crawley’s second cookbook Practically Raw Desserts. This delicious treat book was released right on the heels of her first book Practically Raw. Both books are for anyone experimenting with raw foods or wants to include more healthful recipes in their repertoire. Practically raw includes cooked options and both have a great list of substitutions that can be made for harder to find ingredients. It’s so practical and flexible!

“Never look down on someone unless you’re helping them up.”
This post has been building up for a while. I’ve had many discussions lately with people and read online commentary of people being judgmental, self-righteous, and downright hateful to others in relation to diet and lifestyle. This isn’t a new topic of discussion but is something more and more people are speaking out against. JL wrote a post that really hit me hard after Vida Vegan Con (because I’m one of those healthy people, but I also know how to enjoy a damn cupcake).… Read more
